At Tuesday evening's City Council meeting, the Mustang American Legion Post #353 presented three awards to employees of the City of Mustang - a Police Officer, a Firefighter, and a Non-Uniformed Employee. We will be highlighting each over the next three days beginning with the Outstanding Police Officer - Sergeant Maurice Hawkins. Sgt. Hawkins has been employed with the City of Mustang Police Department for 4 years and prior to coming to Mustang was employed by the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office as a Deputy. Maurice is a certified hostage negotiator through the FBI and serves on the Canadian County Special Operations team in that capacity. Along with his public service, Maurice has a strong passion for the development and well-being of youth in our community. Maurice is a youth football coach here in Mustang and instills a positive attitude and strong character traits to those he coaches. Maurice is highly respected within his department, the city organization, and the community as well. Congratulations Sgt. Hawkins!

📞✨ Happy National Telecommunicators Week! ✨📞
This week, we celebrate the unsung heroes behind the scenes—our telecommunicators! These dedicated professionals are the heartbeat of emergency response systems, providing vital support to first responders and ensuring our safety every day.
🌟 Here are a few reasons why they matter:
1. **Lifeline in Emergencies**: They are the first point of contact during critical situations, guiding individuals to safety.
2. **Calm in Chaos**: Their ability to remain calm under pressure helps to de-escalate crises, providing reassurance when it’s needed most.
3. **Expert Problem Solvers**: Telecommunicators are trained to quickly assess a situation and coordinate response efforts efficiently.
4. **Community Connection**: They bridge the gap between the public and emergency services, fostering trust and communication.
Join us in recognizing and thanking these dedicated individuals for their devotion and hard work. 💙🙌
